NORFOLK, Neb. – ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï has been named the recipient of the 2026 Western Region Impact and Success Award by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT), recognizing the college’s commitment to expanding access, improving student success, and strengthening the communities it serves. ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï was one of five colleges nationwide selected for regional recognition.
The ACCT Impact and Success Award honors institutions that demonstrate measurable progress in increasing educational attainment, removing barriers, expanding opportunities for underserved populations, and engaging communities in meaningful ways. ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï was selected as the Western Region recipient for its efforts to improve outcomes for low-income, first-generation, adult, and historically underserved students.

Barrett, president of ºÚÁϳԹÏ. “Our mission is centered on student and community success, and this award affirms the impact of the innovative programs, partnerships, and support systems that help students achieve their educational and career goals.”
ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï serves a 20-county region in ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï Nebraska and has focused its student success efforts on guided career pathways, proactive advising, and targeted support services. These strategies have expanded access to higher education while improving completion and employment outcomes. Fifty-three percent of ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï credit students identify as first-generation, and nearly 91% of first-time, full-time degree-seeking students receive financial aid.
Among the accomplishments highlighted in the award submission:
- Early college enrollment increased 86% over six years, reaching 2,715 students in 2024-25 after the introduction of free dual enrollment tuition.
- Hispanic participation in early college programs increased 106% since 2021-22.
- Low-income student completion rates at ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï averaged 56%, significantly exceeding the national average of 30%.
- TRIO Student Support Services participants achieved a 94% persistence rate and an 86% graduation rate in 2024-25.
- Ninety-nine percent of 2024-25 graduates reported being employed or continuing their education within six months of graduation.
Beyond these outcomes, ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï has expanded wraparound supports that help students navigate academic, financial, and personal barriers. These efforts include enhanced advising, mental health services, food pantry programs, scholarships, and career planning resources. Since becoming a JED Campus, the college has increased counseling utilization by 54%, and donor-funded scholarships have nearly tripled over the past five years.
The college has also expanded opportunities for adult learners through workforce-focused credential programs, apprenticeships, adult education, and industry partnerships. These initiatives create pathways to high-demand careers while helping meet regional workforce needs. ºÚÁÏ³Ô¹Ï extends that impact through partnerships with K-12 schools, healthcare providers, employers, agricultural organizations, and community groups throughout its service area.
The national ACCT Impact and Success Award recipient will be announced during the 2026 ACCT Leadership Congress in October.
